Namibia: NBC yet to get DG - by Staff Reporter

Namibian Broadcasting Corporation Board Chairperson, Sven Thieme, says the appointment of the director-general for the national broadcaster has not yet been finalised.

He, however, told New Era yesterday that he is hopeful the position would be finalised this week.

The position was recently re-advertised and the application deadline extended.

The deadline for the applications was last Thursday, June 24.

It was widely reported that Albertus !Aochamub, MTC’s head of corporate affairs; Stanley Similo, a senior executive responsible for human resources and regulatory affairs at mobile operator leo; and Rector Mutelo, Nedbank head of communications and marketing, are allegedly the three short-listed candidates.

Thieme, however, said there are four candidates short-listed, which could be five or more today, depending on the available candidates.

He, however, refused to divulge the names of the four candidates.

Ten people have served, as acting and full-time NBC director-generals since independence.
